SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2024

EFC NORGE AS

1. Introduction

This sustainability report has been prepared in accordance with Norwegian law, including the Norwegian Accounting Act (§3-3c) and the Transparency Act, which require companies to disclose information about their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. As a company operating in the construction industry, EFC NORGE AS is committed to integrating sustainable practices across its operations.

2. Business Model and Sustainability Strategy

EFC Norge AS operates in the construction industry, specializing in interior and exterior walls with high-quality metal and wooden frames. We prioritize sustainability in material selection, energy efficiency, and waste reduction. Our sustainability strategy is based on three pillars:

  1. Environmental Responsibility: Reducing emissions, responsible resource management, and promoting circular economy principles.
  2. Social Responsibility: Ensuring fair working conditions and employee well-being.
  3. Governance and Ethics: Adhering to strict corporate governance systems, compliance with legal regulations, and maintaining transparency in business operations.

3. Environmental Impact

EFC Norge AS recognizes the construction industry’s environmental impact and takes steps to minimize its footprint.

  • Energy and Emissions: We aim to reduce CO2 emissions by adopting energy-efficient construction methods, using renewable energy sources where possible, and minimizing fossil fuel consumption in transport and machinery. Our employees use electric cars for transport from accommodation to the site and back.
  • Material Usage: Preference is given to sustainable and certified materials such as FSC- certified wood and recycled steel. We strive to reduce waste through efficient material planning.
  • Waste Management: We separate and recycle construction waste and work closely with main contractors to reduce waste percentages at all our projects.

4. Social Responsibility

EFC Norge AS is committed to maintaining a safe and fair working environment for all employees and subcontractors.

  • Workplace Safety: We adhere to strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) guidelines to ensure worker protection on construction sites. Training and regular safety audits are conducted in accordance with the Internal Control System of EFC Norge AS.
  • Diversity and Inclusion: We promote equal opportunities, ensuring a discrimination-free workplace, and actively work towards gender equality and inclusion.EFC Norge actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion both internally and in our interactions with customers. Our core values, vision, and mission have been developed collaboratively between management and all organizational levels. Contributions from all departments have been summarized in our shared values, vision, and mission.

In our efforts for equality and inclusion, we engage in close dialogue with employee representatives through EFC Club meetings. Collaboration at both management level and in the EFC Club is a key success factor in advancing gender equality and inclusion within the company.

  • Recruitment: We ensure equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, sexuality, or ethnicity.Recruitment and promotion are based on competence. All employees have equal opportunities for both employment and promotion within the company, regardless of gender and ethnicity.

However, it is crucial that all employees have proficiency in either Estonian or English, both written and spoken, to ensure safety, clear communication, well-being, and cultural understanding.

Our guidelines, routines, language policies, and informal systems do not discriminate against anyone, either directly or indirectly. All contracts, duties, rights, and working conditions must be the same for all employees.

In recruitment, there is a risk that applicants with disabilities are not considered as attractive as they would be with full functional ability. The reason for this is that our segment involves practical construction work, where physical ability is a requirement.

5. Human Rights and Due Diligence

As required by the Norwegian Transparency Act, we conduct due diligence assessments to ensure respect for human rights throughout our supply chain. We assess suppliers and subcontractors for compliance with labor laws and ethical practices.

6. Corporate Governance

EFC NORGE AS follows best practices in corporate governance to ensure ethical business conduct and regulatory compliance.

  • Anti-Corruption Measures: We have strict policies against bribery and corruption. Employees who suspect any violations of our policies are encouraged to report them through the whistleblowing procedure.
  • Salary and Payments: All payments, including salaries, are made via bank transfer. We do not conduct cash payments.
  • Transparency and Reporting: We ensure clear and open communication with stakeholders, including annual sustainability disclosures.
