SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2024
EFC NORGE AS
1. Introduction
This sustainability report has been prepared in accordance with Norwegian law, including the Norwegian Accounting Act (§3-3c) and the Transparency Act, which require companies to disclose information about their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. As a company operating in the construction industry, EFC NORGE AS is committed to integrating sustainable practices across its operations.
2. Business Model and Sustainability Strategy
EFC Norge AS operates in construction and specializes in interior and exterior walls of high-quality metal and wooden frames. We are prioritizing sustainability in material selection, energy efficiency, and waste reduction. Our sustainability strategy is based on three pillars:
1. Environmental Responsibility: Reducing emissions, responsible resource management, and promoting circular economy principles.
2. Social Responsibility: Ensuring fair working conditions, and employee well-being.
3. Governance and Ethics: Adhering to strict corporate governance, compliance with legal regulations, and maintaining transparency in business operations.
3. Environmental Impact
EFC Norge AS recognizes the construction industry’s environmental impact and is taking steps
to minimize its footprint.
• Energy and Emissions: We aim to reduce CO2 emissions by adopting energy-efficient
construction methods, using renewable energy sources where possible, and minimizing
fossil fuel consumption in transport and machinery. For transport from accommodation to
the site and back our employees use electric cars.
• Material Usage: Preference is given to sustainable and certified materials such as FSC-
certified wood and recycled steel. We strive to reduce waste through efficient material
planning.
• Waste Management: We separate and recycle construction waste and work closely with
main contractors to reduce waste percentage at all our projects.
4. Social Responsibility
EFC Norge AS is committed to maintaining a safe and fair working environment for all
employees and subcontractors.
• Workplace Safety: We adhere to strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment)
guidelines to ensure worker protection on construction sites. Training and regular safety
audits are conducted in accordance with Internal Control System of EFC Norge AS.
• Diversity and Inclusion: We promote equal opportunities and ensure a discrimination-
free workplace and actively work with gender equality and inclusion in all our operations.
EFC Norge actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion both internally and in our
interactions with customers. Our core values, vision, and strategy have been developed
collaboratively between management and all organizational levels. Contributions from all
departments have been summarized in our shared values, vision, and strategy.
In our work on equality and inclusion, there has been close dialogue with our employee
representatives through the EFC Club agreement. Our employees are a key tool for cooperation,
and strong collaboration ensures good processes and communication among all parties.
Close cooperation at both management level and in EFC Club is a success factor when it comes
to both gender equality and inclusion within the company. EFC Norge takes an active social
responsibility to contribute to a dynamic and inclusive work environment through diversity,
equality, and a bias-free workplace. All employees share a collective responsibility in this effort.
Our employees must promote equality and inclusion in their work and exercise a practice that
does not discriminate against individuals based on gender, age, disability, language, belief,
religious, ethnic, cultural background, or sexual orientation.
All job vacancies are advertised internally, and all employees have an equal opportunity to apply.
In both internal and external recruitment, competence is the determining factor—regardless of
gender or ethnicity.
• We employ both women and men in leadership positions.
• We ensure equal pay for all genders at the same level within the organization.
• Our main field of activity is construction, which is traditionally male dominated,
attracting similar applicants.
• Recruitment: We practice bias-free recruitment where decisions are based on
competencies.
EFC Norge ensures equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, sexuality, or ethnicity.
Recruitment and promotion are based on competence. All employees have equal opportunities
for both employment and promotion within the company, regardless of gender and ethnicity.
However, it is crucial that all employees have proficiency in either Estonian or English, both
written and spoken, to ensure safety, clear communication, well-being, and cultural
understanding.
Our guidelines, routines, language policies, and informal systems do not discriminate against
anyone, either directly or indirectly. All contracts, duties, rights, and working conditions must be
the same for all employees. In recruitment, there is a risk that applicants with disabilities may not
be considered as attractive as they would be with full functional ability. The reason for this is
that our segment involves practical construction work, where physical ability may be a
requirement.
All employees in administration have partially flexible working hours and the opportunity for
remote work two days a week, provided the nature of the position allows it.
5. Human Rights and Due Diligence
As required by the Norwegian Transparency Act, we conduct due diligence assessments to
ensure respect for human rights throughout our supply chain. We assess suppliers and
subcontractors for compliance with labor laws, ethical practices, and working conditions.
6. Corporate Governance
EFC NORGE AS follows best practices in corporate governance to ensure ethical business
conduct and regulatory compliance.
• Anti-Corruption Measures: We have strict policies against bribery and corruption. If an
employee suspects that rules are being violated at EFC Norge AS, or notices that
something is not in line with our values, they should immediately inform, using the
notification (whistleblowing) procedure.
• Salary and all other payments: All payments, including salaries, are made via bank
transfer. We do not conduct cash payments.
• Transparency and Reporting: We ensure clear and open communication with
stakeholders, including annual sustainability disclosures.
7. Future Goals
To further our sustainability efforts, EFC Norge AS aims to:
• Increase the use of eco-friendly materials and low-carbon solutions.
• Enhance collaboration with sustainable suppliers and partners.
• Strengthen employee training in sustainability and ESG principles.
8. Conclusion
EFC NORGE AS remains dedicated to sustainable construction practices and continuous
improvement in environmental and social responsibility. Through innovation and commitment,
we strive to build a greener and more ethical future.
